Three children who were injured in the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy remain at Children's Wisconsin, are in 'fair condition'

Children's Wisconsin is home to Project Ujima.

Out of the 16 children who were admitted to Children's Wisconsin after being injured in the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy, three remain hospitalized and are listed in "fair condition," according to a Tuesday update from the hospital.

On Dec. 2, two other children were discharged and are continuing their recovery at home, the update said.

Sixteen children, including three sets of siblings, were admitted to Children's Nov. 21 after a driver plowed an SUV through the parade. On Nov. 23, Jackson Sparks, an 8-year-old boy who was marching in the parade with his baseball team, died from his injuries.

Five adults were also killed in the incident and more than 60 others were injured.

"Our teams continue to reflect on this tragic event while supporting the physical and emotional recovery of those impacted," the Children's update said.

Later this week, the hospital's staff will be offered blue light bracelets "as a symbol of healing and hope," and to support the city of Waukesha's "unite with a blue light" effort.

Waukesha leaders are urging community members to light a blue light outside of their homes through the holidays to show unity and to stand with those injured.

Children’s Wisconsin is also lit blue this month.
