Three cops honored in Englewood Cliffs for saving the life of chef after collapse

Three men were honored by the borough of Englewood Cliffs mayor and council at a monthly meeting for their CPR efforts that saved the life of a cyclist.

These men are Englewood Cliffs Police Department Lt. James Tracy, Officer Pete Rampersad and Fort Lee Police Department recruit Dan Daub.

On Oct. 15, Tracy and Daub saw a bicyclist fall to the ground. They stopped to assist but were unable to find a pulse and immediately began CPR. Rampersad was also requested to assist, and EMS was called to the scene.

Following a period of rescue breaths and CPR performance the cyclist was resuscitated and taken to a nearby hospital. This cyclist, a French born multi-Michelin star chef, has since recovered, police said. Police did not further identify the cyclist.

Tracy, Rampersad and Daub were recognized by proclamation at the Nov. 9 monthly meeting and credited with saving the man's life. They were thanked by the borough of Englewood Cliffs for "fulfilling their duties in such an exemplary way."
