Three dead after overnight mobile home fire in Denham Springs

DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BRPROUD) — An overnight fire in Livingston Parish left two juveniles and one adult dead, the fire department says.

According to Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4, crews responded to a call shortly before 1 a.m. regarding a fire in a mobile home park on Burgess Road. Upon arrival, crews found a mobile home and multiple vehicles on fire. Crews began to evacuate residents of the mobile homes.

Response crews were informed that it was believed that occupants were still inside the mobile home. Shortly after, firefighters entered the main fire structure, performed a search and found two juveniles and one man dead, the fire department confirmed.

Two mobile homes and four vehicles were involved in the fire, according to Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4.

The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal is assisting in the investigation into the cause of the fire. It is believed that the fire was burning inside the home before authorities were notified, the fire department said.

The Livingston Parish Public Schools released a statement in response to the two Walker Elementary students who were involved in the house fire.

“Livingston Parish Public Schools has been informed that a residential fire that occurred early this morning has claimed the lives of two Walker Elementary students, as well as an adult.

School counselors and district personnel have been on the Walker Elementary campus today to assist with staff and students.

The Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4, and members of the Walker Police Department and Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.

School leaders are asking for the community’s prayers and support for the family and friends, for the Walker Elementary community and the greater Town of Walker community.
