Three new donors help Fairbury Bloodmobile reach 87 units

Three new donors were among those who provided 87 units at the August bloodmobile, held Aug. 24 at the First United Methodist Church.

First time donors were Rachel Elbert of Forrest, Kelsey McNamara of Colfax and Corinne Baker of Fairbury.

Others reaching milestones were Nathan Kelson, Fairbury, two gallons; Robert Bradbury, Piper City, three gallons; Russ Tjarks, Sibley, four gallons; Donna Delaney, Fairbury, five gallons; Brian Short, Forrest, seven gallons; MaryAnn Stork, Fairbury, and Jim Kearney, Sibley, both eight gallons; Shelly Schahrer, Fairbury, 10 gallons; Nancy Meister, Fairbury, 11 gallons; Barry Kaisner, Forrest, 20 gallons; and Jim Yoder, Forrest, 29 gallons.

Donors came from Fairbury, Forrest, Chatsworth, Chenoa, Cropsey, Sibley, Piper City, Strawn, Lexington, Colfax, and Pontiac.

Also donating were Colbey Steffen, Karl Edelman, Ted Bachtold, Jane Harbeck, John Vitzthum, Catherine Wahls, Carol Tjarks, Gerry Groskreutz, Matthew Brauman, John Krueger, Debbie Freed, Barbara Schlatter, Ed Palen, Rhonda Rudin, Harvey Bahler, Heidi Bachman, Elizabeth Dray, Greg Hish, Don Walter, Martha Fehr, Val Broquard and Sue Walter.

VFW Auxiliary Post #9789 donated a Dave’s Supermarket gift card to provide food for the donors. Cookies were furnished by Kathy Honegger and by ladies from the VFW post — Sharon McCoy, Mary Carter, Michelle Little, Cindy Endres, Laurie Cliffe, and Deb Freese.

The next opportunity to donate blood will be Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Fairbury United Methodist Church.
