Three new drive-through coffee shops will open over the next three months in east Wichita

Editor’s note: Because of Monday’s rain, the 7 Brew building drop has been delayed from Wednesday to Thursday. This story has been updated to reflect the change.

Wichita is set to add several more coffee shops this summer — all of them of the drive through-only variety.

The first one that will open: The Dutch Bros at the Greenwich Place development at K-96 and Greenwich. A spokeswoman for Dutch Bros said that the shop, which will sit between Duluth Trading Co. and Chipotle, is scheduled for a June 30 opening.

The chain first announced its plan to open the new Dutch Bros drive-through last year. It will be Wichita’s third, joining the shops that opened at 2860 N. Maize Road in July 2022 and at 605 S. West St. in November. Derby also got a Dutch Bros when a new store opened in April at 2619 N. Rock Road.

Dutch Bros, an Oregon-based chain, is known for its iced drinks, and they’re not all iced coffee. In addition to cold brew, Dutch Bros is popular for its colorful Rebel Energy Drinks that come in flavors like peach, strawberry pomegranate, and lime and blue raspberry and offer an extra caffeine punch.

Next up, 7 Brew — the Arkansas drive-through coffee chain that in September added its first Wichita store at 3031 E. Central — will open its second one in July. On Thursday, the chain will “drop” a completely fabricated building onto its new site at 110 N. Rock Road, which is where a longtime strip center that held Hen Features and a few other buildings was recently demolished. The building will be dropped between 11 a.m. and noon, and during that time, the chain will present a $2,000 check to the Wichita Children’s Home.

The chain also plans to add a third Wichita location this summer at 21st and Greenwich, a 7 Brew spokesman said, though he could not confirm an exact address. But Tony Caputo, owner of Accel Construction, confirmed that his company had pulled a construction permit for 7 Brew on an empty lot at 11465 E. 21st St., which is just to the east of the Arby’s at 11419 E. 21st St.

The 7 Brew chain is known for its fast service and short wait times. It serves coffee beverages, infused energy drinks, Italian sodas, smoothies and teas.
