Three are Exchange Club's Youths of the Month for November

Three area students, Charlotte Jones, Madelynne May and Austin Williams were named Youths of the Month for November by the Exchange Club of Monroe.

Charlotte Jones

Charlotte is a senior at St. Mary Catholic Central High School. She is president of both National Honor Society and the Interact Club. She is also secretary and treasurer of Student Council and a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. Charlotte is the three-time world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is co-captain of varsity cheerleading and a pianist and vocalist. Charlotte is the daughter of Janeen and Bryan Jones.

Madelynne May
Madelynne May

Madelynne is a senior at Airport High School. She is a member of the varsity tennis team and a volunteer for the Interact Club. Madelynne is enrolled in the Work-Based Learning Program at Airport and is a veterinary assistant at Noah’s Ark Pet Hospital in Willis. Madelynn will attend Northern Michigan University with the goal of earning a doctorate in veterinary medicine. Madelynne is the daughter of Melissa and Eric Vredenburg.

Austin Williams
Austin Williams

Austin is a senior at Jefferson High School. She is the senior captain for the sideline and competitive cheer team, senior shot-put and discus captain. She is treasurer of National Honor Society and a drum major of the marching band. Austin also serves on the Student Council and the Student Council Leadership Team. She is vice president of the JHS of 2023. Austin is the daughter of Heather and Dave Williams.

Each of these youth are now eligible to apply for the Exchange Club of Monroe’s Youth of the Year Scholarship of $1,250. The recipient of this local award is then eligible for the Michigan District Youth of the Year Award ($1,000) and the National Youth of The Year Award ($15,000).

“The Exchange Club’s Youth of the Month Program recognizes hard-working high school seniors who demonstrate high levels of scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership,” the Exchange Club said.

Students who are seniors at the club’s five designated Junior Exchange Club Programs area eligible. The programs are at  Airport High School, Ida High School, Jefferson High School, Monroe High School and St. Mary Catholic Central High School.
