Three finalists for Northborough's town administrator job: Here is what's next

NORTHBOROUGH - The Select Board is expected to name a new town administrator on Thursday after interviewing three finalists on Wednesday.

The three finalists chosen by the Town Administrator Screening Committee are Jeff Bridges, Clancy Main and Tim McInerney, according to a release from the committee.

The Select Board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday to interview the finalists. Board members will then deliberate to appoint a new administrator. They're also scheduled to meet at 8 p.m. Thursday to continue deliberating, and then meet in executive session to conduct contract negotiations with the chosen candidate.

Why Northborough is hiring a town administrator

The new town administrator will replace John Coderre, who served in that position from 2008 until April of this year, when he left to become town manager in Foxborough. He has since left the Foxborough job.

Jeff Bridges: What is his experience

In his letter of interest applying for the Northborough town administrator position, Bridges said he thought his experience made him a good fit for the town.

"Given the projects and description of the ideal candidate, my experience would allow me to hit the ground running working collaboratively with the Board of Selectmen, town staff and volunteer boards, and the community to advance the goals of the town," he wrote.

Previously, he served as executive assistant to the town manager in Littleton and was chief of staff for former Boston City Councilor Mark Ciommo.

"The opportunity to serve as the town administrator for Northborough is particularly appealing, as my leadership approach is strongly founded on principles of transparency, collaboration, and public service," Main wrote in his letter of interest applying for the position. "I believe this approach aligns seamlessly with the town of Northborough's ideal candidate. I am eager to leverage my skills and experiences to continue Northborough's success and lead the town towards the future."

Tim McInerney: What is his experience

McInerney was town administrator in Grafton from April 2009 through August 2020. More recently, he served as Worcester's director of inspectional services from January 2021 through September 2021.

He has also served as town administrator in Seekonk and interim town administrator in Uxbridge and Ware.

McInerney, in his letter of interest applying for the job, said his relationship-building skills would be an asset to the town.

"While in Grafton, I built a great team of individuals that I relied on for support and to carry out the vision and policies the Board and I established," he wrote. "My relationship with my Board was very productive and led to many successful projects for the community. I am an entrepreneur at heart and want to see effective use of tax dollars."
