3 Georgia soldiers based at Fort Moore were killed in Jordan following a drone attack

Three soldiers from Georgia and based out of Fort Moore have been killed and more than 40 other service members were injured following a drone attack in Jordan on Sunday, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

The three soldiers killed have been identified as Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Georgia; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Georgia; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Georgia, according to the DOD.

The DOD said the three soldiers were assigned to 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade out of Fort Moore.

The attack occurred at the logistics support base located at Tower 22 of the Jordanian Defense Network, according to the DOD.

The soldiers were in Jordan to support Operation Inherent Resolve, a U.S. and coalition mission to ensure the defeat of ISIS, according to the DOD.

The DOD and U.S. Central Command are working to investigate how the attack happened, according to deputy pentagon press secretary Sabrina Singh during a news briefing Monday.

Singh said Monday it is unclear who is responsible for the attack, according to the DOD release.

Rivers served in the Army Reserve as an interior electrician and his awards and decorations included the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon, according to the DOD.

Sanders served in the Army Reserve as horizontal construction engineer and her awards and decorations included the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon, according to the DOD.

Moffett also served in the Army Reserve as a horizontal construction engineer and her awards and decorations included the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon, according to the DOD.
