Three Heads, DiBella's team up to create a new beer: Chocolate Chip Cookie Stout

Beer and chocolate chip cookies.

If that was a tweet, it’d read, “That’s it. That’s the tweet.”

But there is more, deliciously more.

DiBella's Subs and Three Heads Brewing have joined together to create a stout and chocolate chip cookie combo, DiBella’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Stout.

The beer, which will be officially released Friday, Oct. 14, is a traditional stout brewed with fresh-baked DiBella’s chocolate chips cookies.

Three Heads Brewing at 186 Atlantic Ave., Rochester, will host a release party from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

In addition to the Chocolate Chip Cookie Stout being available for purchase, DiBella’s will be at the brewery with free sub and cookie samples and DiBella’s swag for guests to celebrate the release.

DiBella’s President Peter Fox said the Rochester company wanted to dream up another fun way for everyone to enjoy DiBella’s, and they approached Three Heads with the idea for a cookie beer.

Fast-forward a few months, “and we have this delicious beer that DiBella’s and Three Heads fans will love,” Fox said.

It didn’t take much arm-twisting to get this to happen: “It was a no-brainer,” said Dan Nothnagle, president of Three Heads.

"We love the subs and cookies, let’s create a great beer together!” Nothnagle said.

In addition to being available at the brewery, the DiBella’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Stout will be available at local grocery stores, bars and restaurants. Look for the pretty snazzy label.

This collaboration comes on the heels of Genesee Brewery's release of its heavy-duty Brewer Series Imperial Stout, the first of its new Genesee Brewers Series.

Thompson Health Guild will help ease craving for pie

The Thompson Health Guild is accepting orders now through Nov. 2 for its annual pie sale fundraiser.

Made by Special Touch Bakery in Rochester, the 10-inch pies are either $20 or $25 each depending on variety. There are 11 varieties to choose from, including cannoli, chocolate peanut butter, pumpkin, strawberry rhubarb, and others. For details and to order online, visit www.ThompsonHealth.com/Pie.

Pre-ordered pies may be picked up Thursday, Nov. 17, between 4 and 6 p.m. at the pole barn behind F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua (enter the parking lot via The Thompson Way, a private drive off West Street). Fruit pies will be frozen and ready to bake (baking instructions included). Cream pies will be frozen; simply thaw and serve.

Proceeds will benefit the Guild, which is the auxiliary for UR Medicine Thompson Health. The nonprofit fundraising organization has nearly 150 members, and is governed by a volunteer board of directors. The funds raised by the Guild help the nonprofit health system expand its facilities, purchase needed equipment, and offer helpful programs for patients, senior living residents, staff, and community members.
