SHILOH — Three people including a 1-year-old boy were injured Wednesday afternoon after a buggy crash on 7034 Amstutz Road in northern Richland County, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Office.

Ernest Zimmerman, 35, the driver of the buggy, told a deputy he was pulling into a driveway when an oncoming truck spooked his horse, according to a sheriff's office report.

He said he turned too sharply into the driveway and the buggy flipped onto the driver's side. He said the horse continued to pull the buggy while on its side.

In addition to Ernest Zimmerman, there were four other people in the buggy: Norlene Zimmerman, 32, Joshua Zimmerman, 5, Ammon Zimmerman, 3, and Thomas Zimmerman, 1, all of 6539 Rome Greenwich Road.

Ernest, Norlene and Thomas were transported by squad to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

Josh and Ammon were not injured, according to the sheriff's report.

The 1-year-old boy suffered a laceration to his head. Norlene Zimmerman suffered a broken rib and some internal bleeding, according to the report. Ernest told a deputy he did not have any major injuries, just some cuts.

Savannah and Shiloh-Cass-Bloomingrove fire departments responded to the scene.
