Three injured after car crashes into El Cajon home

EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Three people were seriously injured Monday after their vehicle slammed into the side of a home in El Cajon, according to California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported just after 3 a.m. when a Buick SUV traveling southbound on Winter Gardens Boulevard lost control of the vehicle and made an “unsafe turning movement,” CHP said.

The maneuver caused the vehicle to leave the roadway before overturning and crashing into a residence in the 9000 block of Winter Gardens Avenue.

According to CHP, the driver, a 39-year-old man, and two passengers, a 37-year-old man and a 41-year-old man, sustained major injuries in the collision. All three were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current condition remains unknown.

An investigation into the collision remains ongoing. At this stage, CHP says alcohol does appear to be a factor in the collision.

The extent of the damage to the home has not yet been determined by authorities. No additional details were immediately available.
