Three killed after light aircraft crashes in Mexico

STORY: The accident occurred at around 13:15hrs in Morelos state, located 36.6 miles south of Mexico City.

Emergency workers arrived at the scene where they assisted the five injured people, four of whom were shopping at the supermarket when the aircraft crashed.

"In the first instance, the area was secured to verify that there was no fuel spill that could put our rescuers at risk. The area was secured in this sense and then began the rescue work," Morelos Civil Protection Coordinator, Enrique Clement Gallardo, told Reuters.

Temixco's authorities said the four people on board the aircraft took off from Acapulco in Guerrero state and headed to Puebla. Three of them were killed in the accident, and the other person is being treated.

Morelos Prosecutor's Office and Civil Aeronautics will investigate the causes that led to the accident, local authorities said.
