Cardona and a passenger in the Hino, Angelina Romero, 52, of San Jacinto, were taken to Medical Center Hospital where they were both pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Hino was taken to MCH in stable condition.

On Thursday morning, Houston resident Julian Solis, 21, was killed on Interstate 10 in Pecos 15 miles outside of Fort Stockton.

According to DPS, a 23-year-old Houston man was driving a Chevrolet Impala when he lost control while trying to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed in the rain. The car veered across the median, went into a pasture and rolled several times.

The two men in the back seat were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the vehicle. Solis was killed and the other man, a 24-year-old from Houston, was taken to Lubbock University Medical Center in critical condition.
