Here are three Lent fish fry spots in the Blue Water Area

It is now the season of Lent, which means local churches and organizations are starting up the fryers for fish fries.

Lent takes places for the forty days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. The last Friday of Lent is March 31.

Our Lady of the River Parish

Our Lady of the River Parish, located at 610 S Water St. in Marine City, will be hosting its fish fry in Algonac.

The fish fry will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Catherine, located at 1160 St. Clair Blvd in Algonac. The church will host a fish fry for every Friday of Lent.

Menu includes all you can eat baked or fried cod, choice of baked potato or fries, coleslaw, veggies, rolls and desserts.

Cost to get in is $17 for adults and $10 for children between 7 and 12 years old. Children under 6 years old get in free.

The church also offers a drive up and take out options for the same prices as above.

St. Mary Catholic Community

St. Mary Catholic, located at 1505 Ballentine St. in Port Huron, will host its dinners in its social banquet hall.

The dinners are set to take place from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. during every Friday of Lent.

Menu items include choice of baked or fried fish, baked potato or fries, coleslaw, rolls and tartar sauce.

Dinner costs $11 for two pieces of fish, $12 for three pieces and $13 for four pieces. A kids’ pizza dinner is $5.

Credit and debit is accepted.

American Legion in St. Clair

The American Legion in St. Clair is located at 1322 Clinton Ave. in St. Clair.

Dinner is set to take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Friday of Lent.

Menu includes choice or baked or fried Alaskan pollock, shrimp, redskin potatoes, fries, coleslaw, tossed salad, baked beans, desserts, coffee and water.

Cost of the dinner is $15 per person. Takeout options are available.
