Just as one person sustained life-threatening injuries after being shot at the 1500 block of Bradley Boulevard near Georgetown Thursday morning, word arrived that the Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) has arrested three men in connection with a double homicide that occurred Wednesday in the Berwick area.

According to a CCPD press release, detectives arrested 22-year-old Roland Heyward, 23-year-old Akilee Wilson, and 27-year-old Albert Mack. All three are charged with murder and armed robbery for the double homicide that occurred at an apartment complex on Fenwick Village Drive. All three suspects are now being held in the Chatham County Detention Center.

Around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Chatham County officers responded to a report of a shooting, and found 27-year-old Robert “BJ” Johnson and 32-year-old Eric Townsend dead in an apartment at the complex. Detectives do not believe this was a random crime.

The Savannah Police Department and Chatham County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance during yesterday’s investigation, according to the press release.

As of Aug. 9, there have been 14 total homicides in Chatham County, eight of those in the city of Savannah.
