Three men arrested after marijuana, cocaine, cash found during search of Baton Rouge home

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A trio of men were arrested and charged on Wednesday, Feb. 21. This, after the U.S. Marshals Task Force descended upon a home in the 3000 block of Ozark Street around 7:20 a.m.

They were searching for a convicted felon who had “an active arrest warrant through the Baton Rouge Police Department,” according to the affidavit. EBRSO confirmed that the felon was not found at this location. These three men were found at the home.

Everett Maiden, 24, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute schedule I narcotics (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of a machine gun part.

Edward Carr, 44, was charged with illegal possession of a machine gun part.

Eddie Louis Mcquarter, 42, of Baton Rouge was charged with possession\distribution manufacturing schedule II, possession of drug paraphernalia and firearm/machine gun handling.

Marshals were given permission to search the home by Mcquarter. During the search, they found “multiple small plastic bags containing marijuana spread out throughout the residence,” according to the affidavit. Vacuum sealed bags were also located one of which had “a small amount of marijuana inside, EBRSO said.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Baton Rouge Police Department and agents responded to the home. A warrant was then obtained, and the home was searched by agents. These items were found during the search:

  • around 6.9 grams of cocaine

  • around 7.4 ounces of marijuana

  • multiple scales and packaging materials

  • Glock auto switch

  • $2,043

During questioning, Mcquarter “admitted the cocaine was his but advised he had no knowledge of any illegal items located inside of the residence,” according to the affidavit.

He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Wednesday, Feb. 21. He was subsequently released from jail on $21,500 bond.

Maiden was also into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Wednesday, Feb. 21. He remains behind bars on a $15,000 bond.

Carr was booked into the EBR Parish Prison on the same day as Mcquarter and Maiden. He was released from jail two days later on a $15,000 bond.
