Three men indicted in February shooting deaths of two men in Niceville
A grand jury issued indictments for three men in connection with the February shooting death of two men in Niceville.
In a news release issued Wednesday by the Florida State Attorney’s Office, the grand jury charged Brenden J. Carson, Kaland Karon Jones and Isaiah Lamar Luna with first-degree felony murder, second degree felony murder with a firearm and robbery with a weapon.
The shooting occurred on the evening of Feb. 11 in the Props Ale House parking lot in Niceville. The shooting resulted in the deaths of Brandon James and Bryson Mitchem.
According to a Northwest Florida Daily News story from Feb. 28, Niceville Police officers responded to reports of gunfire at Niceville's Oak Creek shopping center and found Bryson Mitchem of Niceville with multiple gunshot wounds about 7:30 p.m. Mitchem died from his injuries at the scene.
While investigating, officers received reports that two more gunshot victims were on the ground less than a mile away at Lake Court and Palm Boulevard.
Brandon James of Tallahassee was dead when officers arrived. Luna of Tallahassee, one of the men indicted, suffered a non-fatal wound. He was treated for his injuries at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Police said the shooting occurred in the Props Ale House parking lot off of John Sims Parkway, and the other two victims were dropped off at the second location.
The arrest and investigation were conducted by the Niceville Police Department with assistance from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Assistant State Attorney Brooke J. Davis is responsible for the prosecution of the cases on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida.
