Three-Month-Old Baby Among Drowned Migrants On The Way To Greece

At least five migrants - including a three-month-old baby - have drowned while on their way to Greece from Turkey.

The group were trying to reach Europe on a speedboat, but it capsized off the Turkish coast.

Nine people were rescued from the boat, which was carrying Afghan and Iranian migrants, while five bodies were also recovered.

The deaths come as the migrant crisis shows no sign of letting up, with human traffickers sending people on dangerous journeys across the Aegean sea.

Last year, 806 people died on the perilous journeys, according to the International Organisation for Migrations.

The EU this week offered Turkey billions of euros in aid to stop the spread of illegal immigration, as well as a fast-track to talks on membership talks.

More than 130,000 people have already reached Europe from Turkey this year.

The country borders war-torn regions like Syria and Iraq, where people are fleeing to escape the threat of ISIS.

More than 35,000 people are thought to be trapped at the Greek-Macedonian border at Idomeni as Europe attempts to close the Balkan route to foreigners fleeing violence and economic upheaval.
