Three people injured in Lafayette shooting

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Three people were injured in a Lafayette shooting on Saturday night, according to Lafayette police.

The Lafayette Police Department said they responded to the the 800 block of Delord Street in regards to a shooting around 10:05 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, one male victim was located with gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Officials said they were made aware while on the scene that two additional victims with gunshot wounds were taken to the hospital by private means, and were also in stable condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed to authorities that the shooting originated at a private birthday party. Attendees of the party at some point brought the party into the roadway, and not long after shots were fired into a crowd of people by unknown suspects.

This investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
