Three people shot early Saturday in Paterson

PATERSON — Police responded to a report of shots fired at the intersection of Madison and Essex streets at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday to find three people with gunshot wounds, authorities said.

A 19-year-old male from Sunbury, Pennsylvania, a 32-year-old Passaic resident and a 16-year-old had “non-fatal gunshot wounds,” according to a joint statement by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paterson Police Department.

Police did not immediately respond to requests for comments.

The victims were taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson. The investigation is ongoing.
