Three South Jersey stores on shutdown list for Bed Bath & Beyond Inc.

The financially troubled operator of Bed Bath & Beyond stores is closing two locations in South Jersey.

Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. also is shutting a Harmon store in Gloucester County as part of a statewide retrenchment for the beauty and wellness brand.

Overall, the retailer expects to end 572 jobs in New Jersey by March 28, according to a WARN notice posted with the state Department of Labor.

The closings come at the retail firm struggles to overcome financial losses and rising debt.

What stores are closing?

Shutdowns will target Bed Bath & Beyond stores on Centerton Road in Mount Laurel and at Hamilton Commons in Mays Landing, according to a list at the retailer's website.

Overall, the chain announced closings for 87 Bed Bath & Beyond stores, including four in Central and North Jersey.

The company closed more than 115 Bed Bath & Beyond locations last year, but those cutbacks did not affect South Jersey sites.

Sweeping cutbacks for Harmon

The beauty and wellness chain is shedding 30 stores in New Jersey, including one on Deptford Center Road in Deptford.

Overall, 49 Harmon stores will close in several states.

The parent firm also is closing five Buy Buy Baby stores, but none in South Jersey.
