Three-star corner Will James signs with Mississippi State football, Zach Arnett
STARKVILLE — In an offseason filled with defensive back additions, Mississippi State football added another during National Signing Day on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs have signed Will James − a three-star cornerback, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is a native of Theodore, Alabama, who attended Theodore High School.
James is the fourth corner in Mississippi State's 2023 recruiting class out of high school, joining fellow three-star prospects Luke Evans, Brice Pollock and Jaylen Aborom. However, MSU's emphasis on its secondary extends to the transfer portal.

The Bulldogs added Indiana's Christopher Keys, Miami's Khamauri Rogers and LSU's Ray'Darious Jones this offseason.
James' received offers from teams such as Southern Miss and Florida Atlantic, but his decision appeared to come down to Indiana and Mississippi State. However, Colorado made a late surge. James received an offer from the Buffaloes and new coach Deion Sanders on Jan. 29.
Despite a variety of shuffling on coach Zach Arnett's staff, Darcel McBath has remained MSU's cornerbacks coach since 2020.
