Three-star QB Anthony Maddox Jr. commits to Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M

Mississippi's top-ranked quarterback for the Class of 2024 is headed to Texas A&M.

Oak Grove's Anthony Maddox Jr. committed to Coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies on Monday, announcing his decision on Youtube.

Maddox picked Texas A&M over Alabama and Penn State, which he included in his top three schools on Sunday. Maddox also received offers from Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh and Tulane among others.

"Coach Bobby Petrino and coach Fisher together makes for a dynamic and explosive offense," Maddox said. "I've been growing up watching coach Jimbo Fisher forever and I'm a huge fan."

Maddox is Texas A&M's first quarterback commitment in next year's recruitment class. Montgomery Bell Academy (Tennessee) quarterback Marcel Reed signed with Aggies in December. Reed is the No. 18-ranked quarterback in the Class of 2023 and was a longtime commitment to Ole Miss before flipping to the Aggies the day before the early signing period began.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Maddox is the a No. 8 recruit in the state and the No. 31 quarterback nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

The three-star recruit completed 62% of his passes for 2,198 yards, 20 touchdowns and three interceptions in 12 games last season. He also added 347 rushing yards and a TD on the ground. Maddox helped lead the Warriors to a 10-3 record and advanced to the second round of the MHSAA Class 6A playoffs.
