In honor of Princess Anne's 70th birthday on Saturday, Buckingham Palace has released three new photos of the Queen's only daughter. The portraits of the Princess Royal were taken at her home, Gatcombe Park, in late February 2020 by the photographer John Swannell.

Swannell, whose resume includes stints at Vogue, Tatler, and the Sunday Times, has photographed members of the royal family (including the Queen and the late Queen Mother) on multiple occasions, and over the years, he's proven himself to be a favorite photographer of Princess Anne's. Not only did Swannell take her portrait this year, but he also took the official images of the Princess Royal for her 40th, 50th, and 60th birthdays.

While two of the portraits shared today show the Princess in formal attire, the third is much more casual, illustrating Anne's appreciation for the outdoors—and showing off Gatcombe Park's impressive grounds. To her side in the photo below appears to be a cane, a favorite accessory of Anne's for walks in the countryside.

Prior to the coronavirus pandemic hitting Europe, there were reportedly plans for a Buckingham Palace party to celebrate Anne's milestone birthday, but like so many marking special occasions during this difficult time, the Princess Royal has had to alter her plans.

"There were plans which are going to have to change, but I'm sure we'll find a way to get together as a family in the appropriate moment," Anne's son-in-law Mike Tindall said during an interview with Good Morning Britain this week.
