Three titans: When, where Snow Hill, Decatur and Wi-Hi play next in Maryland quarterfinals

The Regional Championship games in Maryland high school basketball have been settled over the last two days, and for Bayside South fans, three teams remain in the hunt for a state title.

In boys basketball, Wicomico and Stephen Decatur took care of business on their home floors on Thursday, grabbing convincing wins over Queen Anne's and Northeast in route to a state quarterfinal berth. And in girls basketball, the Snow Hill Eagles are back in the state quarterfinal after defeating Cambridge-South Dorchester at home on Wednesday, continuing their stellar season.

Here is a breakdown of the three Bayside South squads who won their respective regional finals, and their next matchups in the state quarterfinals:

Snow Hill had to wait a year to get some revenge over Cambridge-South Dorchester for their loss in last year's regional final, and they did just that on Wednesday, defeating the Vikings 47-38 to claim their second regional title in three seasons. They were led by Mariah Murray and Marrah Milbourne, who combined for 28 of the teams 47 points.

The Snow Hill Eagles will be back on their home floor this weekend, as they host a state quarterfinal matchup. After the reseeding of the tournament for the final eight teams, Snow Hill's girls basketball team is currently slotted as the No. 4 seed, and will play Mountain Ridge at home this Saturday at 5 p.m.

There are two boys basketball teams still left standing from the Bayside South. One of them defended their regional title and continue to reassert themselves as kings of the 2A East Region, while another finds themselves back on the regional mountaintop for the first time since 2018.

The Stephen Decatur Seahawks (18-6) hosted Northeast high school in the Class 3A South Region II Championship and walked away with a convincing 72-60 win in front of their home fans. This is the Seahawks' first regional title and state quarterfinal appearance since 2018, and they did it while extending their current win streak to 14 games.

The Seahawks were led by their highly talented starting five, who put together an all-around performance scoring wise, with forwards Brycen Coleman and Trybe Wise leading the way with 18 points each, and guards Davin Chandler, Zakhari Baker and Jayden Hudson each putting up 12.

The Seahawks will take their show on the road for the state quarterfinals this weekend, traveling to face Damascus on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The 2023 Bayside Conference Champions are also back in the state quarterfinals, as Wicomico (24-1) defeated Queen Anne's 55-44 at the Waller Dome on Thursday afternoon in the Class 2A East Region II Championship. This was the third time these two faced off this season, and Butch Waller's squad won all three, with Wi-Hi also surviving matchups against the Lions in the regular season and Bayside title game.

Wi-Hi led for most of the game, jumping out to a 27-15 halftime lead and holding off any Queen Anne's comeback attempts in the second half to defend their 2A Regional title. They were led by Antwan Wilson, who put up 22 points in the win, with Malique Leatherbury pitching in 15 in the effort.

After reseeding, Wi-Hi is currently the top seed in Class 2A, and will host Thomas Stone at the Waller Dome on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
