Three-vehicle crash near Deerfield leaves one dead, another injured

One person is dead and another injured after an early-morning crash on route 250 near Deerfield.
Virginia State Police confirmed they responded to a three-vehicle crash in the 2000 block of Shenandoah Mountain Dr. in Augusta County. There is one confirmed fatality. The crash remains under investigation.
According to Virginia Department of Transportation workers, one other person was injured in the crash and was transported to the University of Virginia medical facilities. Per the workers, rescue helicopters were not able to access the scene due to weather conditions.
VDOT officials have closed access to route 250 west after the intersection with route 269. The wreck took place about a mile-and-a-half up the road from the intersection near the Jennings Gap picnic area.
VDOT workers also confirmed that units were dispatched early this morning around 6 a.m. to to deal with ice on the roads up the mountain.
Out in Augusta County near Deerfield looking into a three-vehicle wreck on 250 West. We’ve been told that one person is dead and one injured, per VDOT workers. Road is currently closed as they wait for the coroner to arrive at the scene.
