Three ways in Greater Akron to celebrate 330 Day and life inside the area code

There's a day to celebrate hamsters.

That's April 12, for those planning on celebrating this year.

Heck. Every Tuesday is set aside to fete everything tacos.

Thanks, LeBron James.

So why not a day to celebrate all things living and growing up in the ol' 330 area code?

So-called 330 Day is almost upon us, and plans are already underway to mark the day on the calendar that rolls around once a year and mirrors our beloved telephone number area code.

The area code covers a wide swath of northern Ohio stretching from Medina to Akron to Youngstown, with places like Wooster and Canton thrown in for good measure.

The 330 Day hoopla in Greater Akron gained footing a few years back thanks to the promotion of concerts to celebrate the day organized by the The Summit radio station in Akron.

Some events are planned to mark 330 and one even includes LeBron.

The Summit FM is once again putting together a 330 Day Concert.

This year's free night of music on Thursday, March 30, will be held at Akron's Goodyear Theater.

Admission is free but they do suggest a $10 donation to help cover costs. Doors open at 6 p.m. with music starting at 7 p.m. at the theater at 1201 E Market St.

The scheduled regional performers include: Ben Gage, Benny Lava & The Guavas, Bethany Joy, Big Pop, Blue Hour, Buffalo Ryders, Jeff Klemm, Jen Maurer, JT's Electrik Blackout, Katy Robinson, Madison Cummins, Marc Lee Shannon, Michael Weber, Ohio Weather Band, Rami Feinstein, Shelby Olive, The Kidney Brothers, The Shootouts, Theron Brown, Tracey Thomas, Yankee Bravo, and students from Akron's Miller South.

The theater's stage will be split in half so one group will be performing while another performer sets up on the other side, so there's continuous entertainment.
