#ThrowbackThursday: War wasn't over, but Vietnam veteran welcomed home in 1967

Lt. Ethan Norris would see the draped crepe paper streamers and the "Welcome Home Ethan" sign when he arrived home in 1967. The Vietnam veteran, who had been injured when the helicopter in which he was riding was hit by Viet Cong artillery, had been recovering in a Denver hospital. Mrs. H. Howard Norris made sure the decorations at the front of their home were just right for Ethan's return to Oklahoma City. March 29 will be the 50th anniversary of when U.S. troops left the conflict in Vietnam in 1973. This photo was published in the Oklahoma City Times.
