Thunberg says 'our voices' being heard but not translating into action
Teenage activist Greta Thunberg says although the voices of young climate strikers are being heard -- politicians are still not taking action.
The 16-year-old who sparked a global youth-led protest movement after striking outside the Swedish parliament last year, told a panel in Madrid on Friday she hoped the two-week annual round of
climate negotiations would help world leaders grasp the urgency of the climate crisis.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) SWEDISH CLIMATE ACTIVIST, GRETA THUNBERG, 16, SAYING:
"I hope, I sincerely hope that the COP25 will lead to something concrete and that will lead to also an increase in awareness among people in general, that the world leaders, that the people in power grasp the urgency of the climate crisis because right now it doesn't seem like they are."
By the end of the summit next week, negotiators hope to resolve remaining disagreements on how to implement an accord struck in Paris in 2015...
