Thunderbirds do practice run over Allegiant before Super Bowl

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The world-famous Thunderbirds gave a sneak preview of what to expect on Super Bowl Sunday in Las Vegas.

The Thunderbirds are assigned to the 57th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas and on Wednesday morning, the elite air demonstration squadron did a practice run over the Allegiant Stadium where they will kick off Super Bowl LVIII with a flyover performance.

The Thunderbirds do around 75 performances a year but this one is special because there will be a nationwide audience.

“We know that the Super Bowl and football is America’s pastime. We’re America’s air force. We view ourselves as America’s team and when people look up it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in this country, five minutes, five years, five decades, it’s something to look up to and be proud of,” said Major Zachery Taylor, Thunderbird pilot.
