Thunderstorms, lightning reported around Visalia as storm hits

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement to portions of Tulare and Kings counties Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning as rain continued to pour over areas of the San Joaquin Valley.

Traver, Goshen and Lemoore may see up to 30 mph winds as well as pea-sized hail, according to the warning. Portions of Tulare and Visalia may also be impacted by the storm.

“The stronger cells were crossing the north sectors of Kings County and Visalia,” a tweet from the National Weather Service Hanford reads. “Watch for lightning, brief heavy rain and gusty wind.”

Multiple thunderstorms were reported along the west side of the Valley Tuesday night.

“Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles east of Home Garden, or east of Hanford, moving north at 10 mph,” the national weather service website reported at 7:18 p.m.
