Thunderstorms likely in northern Arizona, but low chance of rain in Phoenix
A storm is moving over the state Monday, bringing gusty winds to the lower desert areas.
Cloud coverage is expected to increase in the Valley Monday afternoon, but rainfall will mostly remain in the mountains in northern Arizona, according to the Phoenix office of the National Weather Service.
There is only about a 25% chance that the rain will move down into the Phoenix area, but the Valley will receive strong winds — wind gusts are expected to be 25-35 miles per hour.
Expect an uptrend in thunderstorm activity today as a weather disturbance moves through the region. Heavy rain will tend to be quite localized but expect broad swaths of strong winds and pockets of blowing dust (especially over farm areas and open desert). #azwx #cawx pic.twitter.com/0tiWaYU10f

In the mountains, rainfall is expected to be between a quarter and a half of an inch, and a flood watch has been issued for Yavapai, Coconino, Navajo, Apache, and northern Gila counties through Monday night.
