Thursday roundup: Another day, another record round for Hoover girls golf

SUGARCREEK – The Hoover High School girls golf team enjoyed a record-setting round for a second straight day.

The Vikings shot a 2-over-par 146 for a six-stroke win against Garaway at the Black Gold Golf Course on Thursday. The 146 is a school record, breaking the 147 the Vikings shot at Arrowhead on Wednesday during a win against Jackson.

Ava Kemp led Hoover with a 1-under 35 as the Vikings moved to 5-0. Kylie Porter shot 36, Halle Ellis 37 and Hannah Higgins 38. Ellis shot a school-record 32 during Wednesday’s round.

Sammi Miller led Garaway with a 34.
