The Jackson and Marlington baseball teams stayed hot Thursday.

The Polar Bears beat McKinley 5-1 at home for their ninth straight win. It improves them to 14-3 overall and 7-1 in the Federal League.

Jackson’s lead in the league grew with Perry knocking off Green on Thursday for a second straight game. The Panthers’ 7-1 win drops Green to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the league. Lake, at 5-3, moves into sole possession of second place in the league.

Garrett Wright led Jackson by going 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs. Caden Goodwin got the win on the mound, allowing one run on two hits in four innings. Jack Faflik and Aiden Castile combined for three innings of hitless relief.

Meanwhile, the Dukes won their sixth straight with a 5-0 victory at Fitch. Tommy Skelding earned the complete-game win, allowing four hits and striking out seven as he improved to 5-0. The Kentucky recruit also went 2-for-4 with a double. Garret Odey went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Marlington (11-2).
