Thursday roundup: Tuslaw golfer Adam Sibila to state; Hoover tennis sends everyone to districts
Tuslaw senior Adam Sibila shot a 79 Thursday to finish in a tie for third place during the Division III boys golf district tournament at Tannenhauf. That qualifies Sibila for the state tournament next weekend at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury.
The top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team advance to state.
Dalton's Jaden Schlabach shot a 76 to take medalist honors and lead the Bulldogs to a first-place finish with a 327 team score. Warren JFK was second with 332, while Cardinal Mooney was third with a 347.

Central Catholic girls golf narrowly misses state berth
The Central Catholic girls golf team and Kristen Belden just missed qualifying for state during Thursday's Division II district tournament at Sable Creek.
The Crusaders finished fourth as a team at 386, one spot behind third and final qualifier St. Vincent-St. Mary at 379.
Independence took first with a 361. Hawken was second at 363.
Belden finished tied for fifth individually with an 81, two shots behind third and final individual qualifier Siena Maschke of Laurel. Ravenna's Abbie Retherford and United's Mati Zines were co-medalists, both shooting 77.
Sectional girls tennis underway
The Division I girls tennis sectional tournament began Thursday at Jackson North Park. All seven players for Hoover -- Tess Bucher, Claire Wood, Cecilia Holben, Angelina Koinoglou, Addison Sheil, Emma Papcke and Bridget Fink -- advanced to next week's district tournament. This is a first in veteran head coach Ryan Shaffer's career, which began in 1988.
