Thursday's H.S. roundup: Stafford routs Bolton in baseball

May 19—BASEBALL

STAFFORD 24, BOLTON 1. In Bolton, Ryan Gilully and Hayden Iacobucci each hit three-run homers as Stafford closed the regular season with the NCCC win.

Gilully went 2-for-2 and drove in three while walking twice and Iacobucci had four RBIs for Stafford (11-9). Winning pitcher Sam Formus struck out 11, walked six and allowed one hit over five innings. Bryan Diehl scored for Bolton (3-15) and Josh Wagner had an RBI.

ENFIELD 8, TOLLAND 3. In Enfield, Ryan Dennis went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and the hosts scored four runs in the sixth to pull away for the CCC East victory.

Trent Barrows added a two-run single for Enfield (12-6). Ryan Senn earned the win in relief, allowing two hits with three strikeouts and a walk in the final 2 Î innings.

Joseph Zabilansky and Evan Clark each had two hits for Tolland (6-12), which must win its final two games to qualify for the Class M state tournament.

RHAM 11, LEWIS MILLS 10. In Hebron, Camden McPeck was 2-for-4 with a home run, double, and three RBIs and Fayz Baig 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as the Raptors (12-7) held off Lewis Mills (10-8) in a CCC interdivisonal game.

The Raptors trailed 7-2 before taking an 8-7 lead in the fifth. Mills tied it in the sixth before RHAM added three more in the bottom of the inning. Mills scored twice in the seventh before reliever Landon Bell got the final out.

EAST GRANBY 6, EAST WINSDOR 1. In East Windsor, James Fagnant and Adrian Bento each had two RBIs as the visiting Crusaders scored four runs in the seventh. Shane Ritchie had a RBI single in the sixth for the Panthers (9-8) and struck out 11. The Crusaders are 10-8.

GIRLS LACROSSE

ELLINGTON 17, EAST CATHOLIC 3. In Manchester, Hannah Kozik and Kaitlyn Boone each scored five goals Thursday for the Knights in a non-conference victory.

Lauren Hoover and Katie Hurlburt each added two goals for Ellington (10-4). Nora Miller made five saves.

Caroline Cavanaugh had two goals for the Eagles (3-11-1), who ended their season. McKala Orvis and Bubby Zotta combined on four saves.

SOMERS 21, HOUSATONIC 2. In Falls Village, Jamie Anthony and Brooke Steves had five goals and Maya Skalski four to lead the visiting Spartans (10-6).

Brooke Oliveri added two goals for Somers, which visits Canton Tuesday in an NCCC tournament game. Somers' Elena Riggins and Molly Tabb combined for seven saves. Housatonic is 1-9.

ROCKVILLE 15, BRISTOL EASTERN 10. In Vernon, Olivia Mistretta and Molly Wilson both had five goals and an assist to lead Rockville (4-12) over Bristol Eastern (11-5).

Caitlyn Chatterton added a goal and three assists and Lauren Poulin two goals and two assists for the Rams. Mandi Rivard made 11 saves for Rockville, which led 7-6 at halftime.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

ENFIELD 3, NEW BRITAIN 1

The Eagles clinched the CCC East Thursday with their victory over the Golden Hurricanes in their final regular season home match. Game scores were 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 26-24. John Bellafronte led the way for Enfield (13-4) with 22 kills, 12 digs, four blocks and two aces while Evan Murphy added 44 assists, five kills, one block and one ace. Jacob Girard had 11 kills and five digs and Andrew Wyse finished with seven digs and four kills. New Britain is 14-5. Enfield wraps up the regular season on the road Monday at Conard and will likely host a CCC tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday.
