Thursday's high school scores: Oliveira steals home in Somerset Berkley's win over D-R
DIGHTON — High school baseball games always have their share of dramatic finishes.
You can add a theft of home plate to the conversion.
Ben Oliveira stole home for the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning to lift Somerset Berkley to an exciting, 4-3, extra-inning win over South Coast Conference opponent Dighton-Rehoboth at Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School.
Cole Taylor collected the win for Raiders (8-3) in relief. He allowed just one hit, a walk while striking a batter. Starter Jay Lynch scattered eight hits, two earned runs, walked two and struck out one in five innings on the hill.
Taylor led SBR with two hits and a run scored in three at bats.
With the game tied at 3-3, Oliveira reached base on a two-out double. He advanced to third on a wild pitch. With Dom Alderman at the plate, Oliveira swiped home on a double steal with Taylor, who drew a walk.
The Falcons tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with a pair of runs.
