Thursday's high school scores: Somerset Berkley overcomes early deficit to beat Dartmouth

SOMERSET — After losing a hard-fought game on Wednesday, the Somerset Berkley softball team got back in the win column Thursday.

The Raiders overcame an early deficit and came from behind to beat non-league opponent Dartmouth, 4-2, at Somerset Berkley Regional High School.

Laney Martin got the win in the circle for SBR (15-5), pitching the complete game. She scattered six hits, two earned runs while striking out eight. Martin also had two hits and two RBI at the plate.

Other players with multiple hits include Jordan Theriault (walk), Sydney Bednarz (double, RBI) and Alexis Ridge. Gabriella Nugent and Mary Jo-Laudati (RBI) each had a hit in the win.

Diman 13, Old Rochester 2

The Bengals won their regular-season finale at home against Old Rochester on Senior Day.

Emma Medeiros got the win in the circle for Diman (14-6; 6-2 in MAC), allowing just three hits, a walk while striking out five. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and two stolen bases.

Offensively, catcher Patryce Vital had a big day with four hits, including three doubles and six RBI. Abbey Macedo pounded out three hits, drew a walk and a stolen base. Julia Gardner finished with two hits, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Skylah Lacroix and Alexis St. Pierre (two walks and a stolen base) each ended with a hit. Jenna Medeiros, Katelyn Menezes and Kiley Fernandes, who were also among the nine seniors who played the entire day, played great defensively.

The Bengals await the state tournament seeding for Division III.

BASEBALL

Somerset Berkley 3, Dartmouth 1

The Raiders pulled out an exciting extra-inning win over Dartmouth.

Jay Lynch picked up the win on the hill for SBR, pitching eight innings and allowing eight hits, no runs, a walk and six strikeouts. Alex Maderios pitched an inning for the save.

Chandler Doehler had three hits, a walk and scored a run. Landon Richardson, Dean Gobeil, and Drew Crook each finished with an RBI.

Baseball: Boria, Durfee blank non-league opponent Apponequet on Senior Day

BOYS TENNIS

Fairhaven 4, Somerset Berkley 1

The Raiders lost their season finale against league opponent Fairhaven.

Jackson Souza and Jack Schoonover won the only match for SBR (12-5) at second doubles, 6-0, 6-1.

The Raiders await the MIAA Division II tournament.

The Bengals had some impressive performances during Thursday's MIAA D4 state meet at Notre Dame in Hingham.

Jacob Monte medaled in 400 hurdles for Durfee (8-1), finishing sixth overall with a time of 1:00.74. Jacob Chouinard also medaled in 400 hurdles with a seventh place showing (1:00.84) Chouinard finished ninth overall in the triple jump at 39 feet, 11¾ inches.

Cashton Richard took eighth in the 400 hurdles (1:00.92) and Nathan Nascimento placed 21st in the 200 (24.20).

GIRLS OUTDOOR TRACK

The Bengals had a solid showing at Thursday's MIAA D4 state meet at Notre Dame Hingham.

Inez Medeiros finished 11th overall in the 200 (27.13) for Diman (7-1-1). Katie Miranda had a throw of 78’ 7” to finish 16th overall. Emily Gonzalez was 23rd in 400 hurdles (1:19.35) and Samantha Santos placed 29th (1:22.49). Alex Botelho (29.63) also had a strong showing.

The Bengals will compete on Saturday in Part II of MIAA D4 state meet at Notre Dame in Hingham.
