GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Kimberly 3, Appleton North 2

KIMBERLY - The Papermakers rallied from a 2-0 deficit to pull out the comeback win over the Lightning in a battle of Fox Valley Association title contenders at Jack Wippich Court.

Kimberly (8-5) won by the scores of 22-25, 20-25, 25-23, 28-26 and 15-11.

“We got a bunch of senior leaderships,” Kimberly coach Nate Leitermann said. “We have 11 seniors on this team and they just never give up.”

The match was reminiscent of last year’s FVA battle between the teams when Kimberly pulled out a 3-2 victory after falling behind 2-0 as well.

“I think Kimberly played fantastic defense,” Appleton North coach Steve Scheuerell said. “They also served very tough. Our girls, we’re still getting better. We came out strong tonight and then at the end there the game got close and I think the girls got a little tired. This is an opportunity to find out a little about ourselves and get better. The same thing happened last year.
