West 12, Central 6: The Central squad scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning, but the West scored seven unanswered runs over the final three innings — belting three homers — to take the gold medal on Thursday at the Willard Sports Complex in Devens.

West Boylston's Peyton Maloney (3 hits), AMSA's Sophia Hammel, Leominster's Ella Beland and Cushing Academy's Colleen Murphy drove in runs in the third inning for Central. Monty Tech's Danielle Belliveau had three hits for Central.

The loss was a disappointing end of a great week for Central, which earned the top seed after posting a 4-0-1 record. The squad outscored its opponents, 44-21, heading into the final.

Central was led by Ayer-Shirley's Gabrielle Sweeney (11 for 19, 2 homers, 8 RBIs, .579 average), Lunenburg's Sarah Viveiros (11 for 22, 6 RBIs, .500 average) and Beland (8 for 16, 7 RBIs, .500 average) at the plate and AMSA's Heather Cotter (2-1, 0.75 ERA, 20 Ks) and Maloney (2-0, 1.00 ERA, 9 Ks) in the circle.

Melina Hadad (Bancroft), Emma Devens (Marlborough), Oliva Downer (West Boylston), Abbey Lenart (North Middlesex) and Ellie Hills (Leicester) also contributed for Central. The team was coached by Debbie Ryzewski, Jean Murphy was an assistant coach, and Sylvia Dempsey was the team manager.

Vermont 6, Bravehearts 4: Gavin Noriega (double) and Sebastian Mexico (triple) each had two hits for host Worcester (17-25), but a late rally fell short in the first of a two-game series with the league-leading Lake Monsters (31-12) at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.

The Bravehearts trailed, 6-2, entering the bottom of the ninth inning before Cam Seymour homered with two out, and Mexico tripled in Connor Peek (walk), but Matty Warren struck out to end the game.

Norfolk 2, WooSox 1; Norfolk 11, WooSox 4: In a bullpen nightcap, Worcester (45-42) allowed seven runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth as the host Tides (43-44) swept the doubleheader at Harbor Park.
