Thursday's Top Prep Performers: Royal's Hansen throws second straight no-hitter

Royal High's Trevor Hansen earned MVP honors in the Coastal Canyon League.

Highlights from Thursday in high school spring sports:

BASEBALL

  • Senior right-hander Trevor Hansen threw his second straight no-hitter, striking out 14 while walking two, to lead Royal to an 11-0 win over Oak Park in a Coastal Canyon League game. Hansen, who threw a no-hitter on March 3 in a 1-0 win over Camarillo, also went 1 for 4 with a double and three RBIs at the plate. Owen Muench was 2 for 3 with two triples and three RBIs, Lucas Rieker finished 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Carlitos Nunez had a double and an RBI for the Highlanders (6-2, 3-0).

  • Rylan Stillwagon allowed two hits while striking out three in 5.2 innings for the win and Matthew Ramirez had two strikeouts in 1.1 innings for the save as the two combined for a shutout to lead Moorpark to a 2-0 win over Camarillo (5-4, 1-2) in a Coastal Canyon League game. Ramirez went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI, Stillwagon was 1 for 2 with a walk, and Nash Sanders, Greg Lavera and Nate Navarro each had hits for the Musketeers (4-4, 1-1).

  • Dylan Volantis and Kaden Youmans pitched a combined no-hitter, with Volantis allowing two runs while striking out 10 and walking four in 5.1 innings and Youmans striking out four in 2.1 innings, to lead Westlake to a 17-2 win over Roosevelt in a nonleague game. Dillon Marrisett went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI, Andrew Cusworth had a home run and three RBIs, Nate Franco was 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs, Nolan Johnson went 2 for 5 with a double and four RBIs, and Wesley Nanas finished 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for the Warriors (6-3).

  • Tanner Beltowski allowed just three hits and struck out nine in a complete-game performance on the mound and went 3 for 4 with a double, triple, home run and three RBIs at the plate, and Gavin Morales hit a homer to lead Buena to a 9-1 win over Oxnard in a Channel League game.

  • Rudy Aldana got the only hit for the Cougars, Josh Woodworth struck out six in two innings, and Wylan Nelson didn't allow an earned run in three innings for Ventura in its 4-0 loss to San Marcos in a Channel League game.

  • Benjamin Schweit allowed five hits and two runs in five innings, Landen Adair was 3 for 4 with an RBI, Aiden Nykoluk had a double, and Troy Sprowl, Ethan Walgren, Nico Ficele and Landen Sawyer each had a hit to lead Simi Valley to a 6-4 win over Agoura in a nonleague game. Michael Moran went 3 for 4 with three RBIs for the Chargers.

  • Finley Buckner had a double and two RBIs, Carson Sheffer had a triple, and Joseph Steventon allowed two hits and no earned runs while striking out seven in six innings for Oaks Christian (4-3) in its 3-2 loss to La Mirada in a nonleague game.

SOFTBALL

  • Ainsley Berlingeri pitched a six-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts, Angelina Apodaca was 3 for 4 with a solo home run and a two-run homer, Justice Flores went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Cali Howe finished 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Sammie Soto was 2 for 3 with a double, and Isabella Fortini went 2 for 3 to lead Camarillo (5-2, 2-0) to a 10-0 win over Oak Park in a Coastal Canyon League game.

  • Madison Finnerty went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs and struck out nine in a complete-game effort in the circle, Shae Anderson was 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs, Terra Hothan finished 3 for 4 with a double, Nathalie Hernandez had a homer and two RBIs, Kate Guy had a double and three RBIs, Driana Martinez was 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Sydney Burckhard went 1 for 2 with an RBI to lead unbeaten Moorpark (9-0, 3-0) to a 13-6 win over Royal in a Coastal Canyon League game. Aurora Zepeda was 2 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs, Julianne Olge hit a homer and Yadira Montes was 1 for 2 with a double and a walk for the Highlanders (3-4, 0-3).

  • Kaitlyn Bartlow struck out six in a five-inning shutout, Kaylee Clarkson had a homer and two RBIs, and Cambria Finnegan went 2 for 2 with an RBI to lead Westlake (6-1-1, 3-0-1) to a 10-0 win over Calabasas in a Marmonte League game.

  • Amaya Del Olmo finished 3 for 3 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs, Mia Gomez went 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs, Samantha Tagawa was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Quinn Tamburro went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Rylee Redmond was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Emily Brown had a hit and two RBIs to lead Agoura (6-3-1, 2-1-1) to a 16-5 victory over Newbury Park in a Marmonte League game.

  • Emmy Davis allowed just three hits while striking out 10 in six innings, Anahi Arreola went 2 for 3 with a solo home run, Rylee McCoy and Terrianna Kelley each hit solo homers, and Heaven Oliva had a hit and an RBI to lead Oaks Christian to a 4-1 win over St. Mary at the Bishop Gorman Tournament.

  • Liliana Arana allowed just one hit while striking out 11 in a five-inning shutout, Madison Gray went 2 for 2 with two RBIs, three stolen bases and two runs scored, Natalie Segura was 2 for 2 with an RBI, Angie Aguilera finished 1 for 2 with two RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases, and KaiLea Reyes, Mia Cardenas, Mariah Hernandez and Jayleen Morales each had a hit and an RBI to lead unbeaten Santa Paula (6-0, 5-0) to a 10-0 win over Nordhoff in a Citrus Coast League game.

  • Danielle Bishop finished 4 for 4 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs, Lauren Fossati went 2 for 5 with two doubles and an RBI, Tiffany Martinez was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Izzy Rodriguez was 1 for 2 with four RBIs to lead Foothill Tech to a 13-4 win over Pacifica in a nonleague game.

BOYS GOLF

  • Parker Schurer was the medalist with a 2-over 73 and Alex Cheng shot a 74 to lead Oak Park (1-2, 1-1) to a 415-435 win over Royal in a Coastal Canyon League match at Simi Hills Golf Course. Jack Parkinson led the Highlanders (1-2, 1-1) with an 82.

  • Tyler Meister shot an even-par 72 and Morgan Wolff had an 81 to lead Camarillo (2-0, 1-0) to a 406-509 win over Moorpark in a Coastal Canyon League match at Moorpark Country Club. Kemper Wilson led the Musketeers (0-3, 0-2) with a 78.

  • Cooper Greenwood and Ryan Arnold were co-medalists as each shot a 73 to lead Agoura to a 396-424 win over Thousand Oaks in a Marmonte League match at par-71 Sunset Hills Golf Course. Daniel Darwin led the Lancers with a 75.

  • Nick Waldock fired a career-best 66 to earn medalist honors, Max Emberson shot a 71 and Nick Benton had a 73 to lead Oaks Christian (3-0) to a 365-406 win over West Ranch in a nonleague match at Sterling Hills Golf Course. The 365 total was the fourth-best team score in program history.

  • Adam Anderson fired a 8-under 64 to earn medalist honors and Brady McHenry finished with a 4-under 68 for Buena in its 364-410 loss to Dos Pueblos in a Channel League match at Olivas Links Golf Course.

  • Thomas Chadbourne was the medalist with an even-par 36 for Foothill Tech in its 217-223 loss to Laguna Blanca at Olivas Links Golf Course.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

  • Preston Kling had 15 digs, Jack Nicks finished with 14 kills and seven blocks, Nikko Songco compiled 14 kills, and Riley Braddock and Elie Gorowitz each had four blocks to lead Oak Park to a 23-25, 32-30, 25-19, 25-22 win over South Pasadena in a nonleague match.

  • Rio Mesa earned a 25-15, 25-14, 25-13 sweep of Buena in a Channel League match.

  • Narith Prak had eight assists, Donovan Aguilar finished with seven kills and Jacob Liporada had nine digs for Oxnard (0-12, 0-2) in its 25-13, 25-13, 25-19 loss to Dos Pueblos in a Channel League match.

GIRLS LACROSSE

  • Oak Park defeated rival Agoura 10-5 to secure the Kanan Cup.

BOYS LACROSSE

  • Newbury Park defeated El Camino 12-10.

  • Oak Park defeated Oaks Christian 15-5.

BOYS TENNIS

  • Oak Park defeated Calabasas 12-6 in a nonleague match.

  • Royal defeated Thousand Oaks 11-7 in a nonleague match.

  • Oaks Christian defeated Agoura 13-5 in a Marmonte League opener to improve to 2-2 overall.
