Ticket seller says interest in Chiefs spiked after Taylor Swift showed up at Arrowhead

Resale ticket marketplace StubHub said Tuesday it has seen an increase in Kansas City Chiefs ticket sales and searches since superstar Taylor Swift showed up at Sunday’s game

Swift’s appearance at the game further stoked widespread interest in reports that she and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce have been dating. Immediately following the game, sales of Kelce’s jerseys have surged and local clothing brands have rushed out special Swift-themed Chiefs merchandise.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson with StubHub said that since Swift’s appearance, the resale ticket site has seen a nearly three-fold increase in ticket sales and ticket searches for all Chiefs home games for the rest of the season.

As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, 1,580 people viewed Kansas City Chiefs events in the past hour on StubHub.

The Chiefs don’t play at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium again until Oct. 12, where they host AFC West rivals Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football.

The lowest price for one ticket to this game is $198 before fees as of Tuesday.

One verified Chiefs ticket for the same game on Ticketmaster is $250, whereas a verified resale ticket is $195 before fees as of Tuesday.

Overland Park-based resale ticket marketplace Tickets For Less has tickets available starting at $225 for one ticket. Tickets For Less spokesperson Abigail Gentrup said that the marketplace doesn’t have fees, and the prices seen are what fans can expect to pay.

Chiefs play New York Jets Sunday

One game that might catch Swifties’ eyes: This weekend’s road game against the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football.

The Jets play in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and it was reported initially that Swift and Kelce first met in New York, where they were “quietly hanging out.”

Later this year, the Chiefs have a Nov. 20 home game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, and Swift has said in the past that the Eagles are her favorite NFL team.

But Swift has her own tour dates Nov. 17-19 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and then Nov. 24-26 in São Paulo.

A ticket for the Jets game starts at $88 on Ticketmaster, $64 on StubHub and $74 on Tickets For Less. One ticket for the Eagles game starts at $275 on Ticketmaster, $243 on StubHub and $289 on Tickets For Less.

The Chiefs 41-10 victory over the Bears on Sunday was the most-watched NFL game on any network this week, according to Front Office Sports. The game averaged 24.3 million viewers on Fox.
