Happy hour

Happy hour will be held in downtown San Angelo for people who want to bar hop or pregame for other events.

"Last year there were a ton of people socializing downtown and walked over to the RiverStage after," Halfmann said. "So we thought, why not include everyone?"

Different venues will be offering live music and specials during happy hour. Most shows are free, but some may have a cover charge at the door.

"Not only does it give us a chance to showcase more amazing artists, but it brings everyone together, and that's what I'm trying to do with this festival," Halfmann said.

Tickets

General admission tickets and VIP tickets vary per day ranging from $50-$400. Tickets can be purchased on Stubwire.

This year, Wild West Fest will limit tickets to six per transaction and two transactions per credit card (up to 12 tickets).

A multi-day pass for general admission is $140 and a multi-day VIP pass is $400.

Any VIP ticket includes private parking, private covered seating, air-conditioned bathroom trailer, catered meal, private bar and a free Wild West Fest koozie.

Tickets for July 30 for Whiskey Myers are $50 for general admission and $160 for VIP.

Tickets for Aug. 5 for Turnpike Troubadours are $100 for general admission and $250 for VIP.

Artists playing on different days and venues are not included in these prices.

"Ticket sales compared to other years ... it's along the lines of 4-5x stronger than what we've seen before," Halfmann said.

Halfmann expects this festival to break the record attendance at the RiverStage once again, which has a fire marshal capacity of 8,000.

"We're definitely expecting the biggest show that the RiverStage has ever seen," Halfmann said. "A sold-out show is right on the horizon. I would not recommend waiting until the last minute to get a ticket; they are selling fast."

How did San Angelo manage Turnpike Troubadours as a headliner?

On Nov. 29, 2021, Turnpike Troubadours posted a new group photo on social media with nothing more than a smiling emoji. Fans were exhilarated thinking the band was back together after an unexpected hiatus in 2019.

Sure enough, the band began posting tour details the next day. One of these shows included San Angelo's annual Wild West Fest.

“I have been working with Turnpike’s booking agent for around five years. As rumors of a reunion began floating around, I immediately reached out,” Halfmann said.

"I spent the next two weeks game planning and figuring out how we could make it work and be part of their reunion tour. That was a hard secret to keep after confirming them in our lineup."

Turnpike preformed in the festival's first show in March 2018.

"It's kind of come full circle, which is a crazy thing to think about," Halfmann said.

Can I bring a lawn chair or blanket?

Halfmann said they are not allowing blankets in this year, but lawn chairs are acceptable.

"Blankets take up a little too much room and we just want to make sure everybody has the best and most comfortable experiences as possible," Halfmann said.

Can I bring food or alcohol in?

No outside food or drinks are allowed inside the events.

Drinks will be sold at the show, and food vendors are in the works.

Do I need cash?

Halfmann said they are accepting all forms of payment.
