How to get tickets and find deals to Summerfest 2022 in Milwaukee

·6 min read

It wouldn't feel like summer in Milwaukee without Summerfest, the largest music festival in the United States.

And for the first time since 2019, Summerfest is taking place in the heat of summer in 2022, running June 23 to 25, June 30 to July 2, and July 7 to 9.

Besides being the largest, with around 800 acts playing across 12 stages, it's also one the most diverse festivals in the world, aspiring to offer something for everyone since its inception in 1968. This year that includes pop star Charli XCX, veteran rapper 2 Chainz, and Milwaukee-born Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller.

And that list doesn't even include the biggest stars playing Summerfest 2022, over at the 23,000-capacity American Family Insurance Amphitheater. Those artists include Rod Stewart, Jason Aldean, Lil Wayne, Backstreet Boys, Halsey, Thomas Rhett, Machine Gun Kelly, and a Disturbed and Lamb of God double-header.

Here's how to get tickets to Summerfest 2022.

General admission tickets at Summerfest this year start at $25, which includes access to shows on 11 stages.

General-admission tickets

A single-day general admission ticket is $25, available at the Summerfest box office (200 N. Harbor Drive) and summerfest.com.

General-admission single-day tickets for seniors (62 and older) are $20, and they're $6 for children ages 3 to 10, but they're only available at the box office during Summerfest itself. (Children 2 and under get in free.)

General admission gets you access to 11 official stages — but it doesn't get you into the biggest venue, the 23,000-person-capacity American Family Insurance Amphitheater. Headliners at the 5,000-seat BMO Harris Pavilion also require a separate ticket if you want a reserved seat; otherwise, general-admission ticket holders can catch those shows in the back of the venue.

Summerfest officials announced 16 different ways to get general admission tickets for free for 2022, along with a handful of other promo offerings. Follow this link for the full rundown.

How to get multi-day passes

If you plan on heading to Summerfest for more than one day, a multi-day pass is your best bet.

A three-day pass is $60, a six-day pass is $105, and a nine-day pass is $125. They're all available at the Summerfest box office and on the festival's website.

You can pick any days the festival is running to use the passes, but like the general-admission tickets, the passes do not cover American Family Insurance Amphitheater shows and don't include reserved seats for headliners at the BMO Harris Pavilion.

Shows at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater require their own ticket, but those tickets also include Summerfest general admission on the date of an applicable concert.

American Family Insurance Amphitheater tickets

If you want to see the biggest acts at Summerfest, you're going to have to pay extra.

Each amphitheater show is priced separately, but tickets cover Summerfest general admission on the date of the concert.

Amphitheater tickets are available at the Summerfest box office and ticketmaster.com for the following shows:

  • Jason Aldean with Gabby Barrett and John Morgan (7:30 p.m. June 23; $71.36 to $498.25)

  • Machine Gun Kelly with Avril Lavigne and Iann Dior (7:30 p.m. July 1; $65.75 to $598.87)

  • Halsey with the Marias and Abby Roberts (7:30 p.m. July 2; $66.25 to $125.90)

  • Rod Stewart with Cheap Trick (7:30 p.m. July 7; $66.25 to $455.51)

  • Thomas Rhett (7:30 p.m. July 9; $71.36 to $161.85)

A sold-out June 24 amphitheater show with Justin Bieber — originally booked for Summerfest 2020, which was canceled — was again postponed to a date to be announced due to Bieber's ongoing partial facial paralysis from Ramsay Hunt syndrome. The amphitheater will not have a show June 24 this year.

You can watch headliners at the BMO Harris Pavilion during Summerfest with a general admission ticket, but you'll have to pay extra to get a reserved seat. Reserved seats do include Summerfest general admission on the date of the show.
