Tickets are going fast to see Chelsea FC vs. Wrexham AFC soccer in NC. How to get them.

Soccer enthusiasts looking to attend one of the Triangle’s premier events this summer have a hint of what they might have to pay as tickets go on sale Thursday.

On April 20, officials announced that Chelsea FC of the English Premier League will face Wales-based Wrexham AFC at UNC’s Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, NC, on July 19. The game is part of the 2023 FC Series.

The match will be the first neutral-site meeting of the two historic clubs. It will also be the first international soccer competition held at Kenan Stadium.

When is the Wrexham AFC and Chelsea FC game?

At the time of the announcement, the time and ticket prices for “FC Series: Clash at Carolina” were still a mystery. Some of that has been cleared up.

According to presale links from both Wrexham AFC and Chelsea FC, the match will be contested at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19.

Chelsea’s match in Chapel Hill is one of four in the United States with games to follow in Philadelphia, Atlanta and FedEx Field at Landover, MD.

How much do tickets cost? When can I buy tickets?

Tickets have been on sale to Wrexham and Chelsea FC supporters in a presale event since Tuesday afternoon. They range in price from $60 to $650, according to the price level selection screen.

But in selecting the lowest price option, the cheapest available from either club’s link was $115 plus fees, which brought the total to $148.75.

Some of the proceeds will be donated to the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic at UNC Children’s Hospital.

Tickets to the general public go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday here.

Who is Wrexham? Who is Chelsea?

This summer’s meeting will be the first ever between the two clubs.

Chelsea FC, founded in 1905, won its second UEFA Champions League title in 2021 and has also won the Premier League five times, among numerous other tournaments.

Wrexham, the world’s third-oldest professional club, has undergone a major turnaround since actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased the fifth-level club in 2020. Wrexham, featured in the FX docuseries, “Welcome to Wrexham,” won its National League championship over the weekend, getting promoted to the next league.

The match will be Wrexham’s second stop in the Triangle this summer. The Welsh club is making its U.S. debut in early June by playing in The Soccer Tournament (TST) at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary with a $1 million championship on June 4.

There is currently a waitlist for those tickets, and a sale date has not been announced.
