"Athens famous" is an actual thing, and a selection of some of the Classic City's most gifted performers will go head-to-head in the name of charity to see which one ascends to that title. The Cottage Sexual Assault Center & Children’s Advocacy Center will host Athens’s Got Talent at Southern Brewing Company on May 20 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Thirteen different acts will be on the roster for the all-ages event, which will include kids' activities, live music, food trucks and games. Tickets tickets are $15-$25, and all proceeds raised will benefit The Cottage to continue providing free and confidential services to survivors of sexual violence and child abuse in Athens area communities. There will be awards for Judges' Favorite and Audience's Favorite, and votes in the latter category can be cast for $1 per vote at the event or via northgeorgiacottage.org/athens-got-talent.

Local celebrities Cassie Chantel, Lisa Mende, Tommy Valentine and Mokah Jasmine Johnson will be on hand to judge the inaugural event's competition and hand out the Judge's Favorite Award. The goal of the event is to raise $50,000 towards providing free 24/7 confidential crisis services and therapeutic support to children, adults, and families impacted by sexual violence and child abuse.
