Tickets On Sale For Virtual, Drive-In First Night Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA — It wouldn't be New Year's Eve without First Night Alexandria. Even with the COVID-19 pandemic, Alexandrians will be able to ring in 2021 with an event adjusted to keep families safe.

As of Friday, tickets are on sale for the 26th annual First Night Alexandria, titled "A Night of Nostalgia." It will be a drive-in and virtual concert experience on Dec. 31, 2020 at 5001 Eisenhower Avenue. The event is normally a live music and performing arts festival at different locations around the city, culminating in a fireworks display.

The drive-in concert experience features options of two pre-recorded shows of music and comedy at 6:30 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Each show, running for approximately two hours, will be projected on a movie screen, viewable from vehicles. The event will feature music, giveaways, and local food trucks. Both shows conclude with an on-screen grand finale firework display set to music.

The concert features the following acts:

  • Earth Wind & Fire Tribute Band: Reminiscent tunes from the iconic group and more

  • Rock-A-Sonics: Vintage rock and roll and rockabilly favorites

  • JukeBoxx: A high energy dance band covering top 40’s favorites

  • JWX: The Jarreau Williams experience: A breakout hometown favorite bringing the hits of rock, pop and R&B

  • Clean AF Comedy: A comedy troupe that is clean and funny for the entire family

Drive-in general admission is $60 per vehicle or $75 for VIP admission, which includes premium parking, early access and additional swag bag goodies.

For those staying in, virtual concert admission brings the party to your home. Virtual admission is $20 for shows streamed at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., and both shows will be available on demand from Jan. 1 to 31, 2021.

First Night Alexandria began in 1994 as a New Year's celebration highlighting the performing arts. It became the largest family-friendly alcohol-free New Year's Eve event in the region. A portion of proceeds support musicians studying choral, band and orchestra in Alexandria middle and high schools, and over $35,000 has been donated over the last 10 years. This year's event will go on thanks to continued support from the City of Alexandria, Dominion Energy and Virginia Paving Company.
