Tickets on sale for winter, spring events at beach area venues

Last weekend’s doozy of a winter storm put the kibosh on countless bar and restaurant events. Everything from wine dinners to concerts had to be scratched — at least for the time being.

In coastal Sussex County, the Milton Theatre had hoped to present local rock act The Sol Knopf band and its popular Neil Diamond tribute show Saturday, Jan. 29.

The group will have to wait until summer to promote its new CD of Diamond cover songs called “Solitary Man” at the theater. A new date has been scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 21 ($40), and current ticket holders are to receive further information via email.

Washington, D.C.-area comedian Lucas Bohn will appear at the Milton Theatre at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4. Tickets are expected to sell out by show time.

In the more immediate future, the Milton Theatre has issued “low-ticket alerts” for three consecutive events set for this coming weekend.

Washington, D.C.-based comedian Lucas Bohn is set to take the stage at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4 ($17), and a glance at the theater’s online seating chart shows available tickets are indeed in short supply.

Southern rock will be the order of the day when High Noon: A Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd appears at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5 ($25). Psychic medium Deanna Patrick will return to the theater at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6 ($40).

Last week in this column we reported that the seasonal Bottle & Cork nightclub in Dewey Beach was placing tickets on sale for a pair of summer concerts by country star Justin Moore ($62). The two-nighter will occur Thursday, June 30, and Friday, July 1.

It was announced Monday that 1,070 tickets had been sold in the first four days they were on sale. Moore previously sold out a pair of Cork appearances, playing to a total of approximately 2,000 fans in 2021.

The Bottle & Cork also unveiled another major booking this week. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 4, for a spring concert by The Struts (with prices to be announced). Venue owner Alex Pires and entertainment director Vikki Walls told me they are both excited for the return of the British hard-rock act, which will perform Wednesday, May 25.

The group’s hits include “Kiss This” and “Body Talks.” Its most recent standalone single is a duet with Paris Jackson (daughter of the late Michael Jackson) called “Low Key In Love.”

The Struts played the Cork four years in a row from 2016 to 2019, but had stuck to major cities while touring since then. They are known for bringing other hot new national acts on the road with them to open their shows.

Their Dewey debut in 2016 featured Los Angeles-based quartet Dorothy. The Struts’ 2017 Cork show featured opening act Greta Van Fleet, which has gone on to platinum sales and an appearance on Saturday Night Live.

In Ocean City, Fager’s Island has announced that its 10th annual Brewgrass event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 26 ($64). Craft beer, southern-style barbecue and live bluegrass music will be featured. Tunes will be provided by a pair of bands — Justin Trawick & the Common Good, and Darin Engh and Friends.

Fager’s is also selling tickets for a seafood eat to take place later this month. The Oyster Garden bash will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19 (for which tickets are also $64). It includes microbrews and music from the Baltimore jam band Blue Miracle.
