Tidewater and Virginia Peninsula community colleges freeze in-state tuition for 5th straight year
Tuition and fees for Tidewater and Virginia Peninsula Community Colleges will keep steady for the fifth year in a row.
The State Board for Community Colleges voted unanimously to free in-state and mandatory fees for the upcoming academic year. According to the college website, TCC’s tuition and fees will remain at $185.35 per credit hour. Virginia Peninsula will remain at $160.20 per credit hour.
“With prices rising on everything from food to gas, we are grateful for the decision by the State Board to freeze tuition and fees for our students,” said TCC President Marcia Conston in a press release. “This reaffirms a commitment to removing barriers to higher education and ensuring access and affordability for our students and their families.”
The State Board also froze out-of-state tuition at $385.45 per credit hour. The majority of students enrolled in state community colleges are Virginia residents.
“I appreciate our community college board and presidents putting students and families first by keeping tuition flat,” Gov. Glenn Youngkin said in a press release. “Ensuring affordable access to high-quality workforce training is critical connecting Virginians to unfilled jobs and the careers of the future.”
