Tiffany Haddish broadcast a dramatic transformation on Instagram Live as she shaved her hair off in front of her fans.
The 40-year-old comedian and actress took a pair of scissors to her braids, before a friend shaved the remaining hair with clippers.
"I still look pretty, I don’t care what you say," she told viewers. "I already feel lighter. I feel like all the bulls**t of 2020 is almost off."
Sharing the video to Instagram, Haddish added a caption that explained she's hoping the move helps her understand her body more.
“Cut my hair!” she said. “I cut all my hair off cause I want to see my Scalp. I know my whole body I know where every mole is but I don’t know my Scalp. So hello Sclap #SheReady to everything.” [sic]
In a separate clip, captioned “For the people that think I lost my mind,” Haddish spoke about the gender stereotypes that come with shaved heads.
“Why, when a woman decides, ‘Hey, I’m going to cut this hair off, because I want to see my scalp,’ she gotta have a mental problem?,” she said.
“Nothing is wrong with my brain, guys. I’m not suffering from no emotional s**t, nothing. I’ve literally been talking about this for years, how I want to see my scalp.
“I know every single part of my body… I know where every single mole is… I’ve been talking about this for a long time.”
Haddish’s famous friends celebrated the star’s chic new look, with singer Estelle writing: “They don’t have to get your freedom my dear. I love that you’re on ‘Live anyway’!”
SZA wrote: “Damn u pretty as hell.”
Meanwhile, Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis wrote: “beautiful.”
Haddish was recently announced to be starring and producing in Homecoming Queen, a comedy based on a true story about Haddish’s own trip to Africa.
